Persons of Indian Origin applying for Indian visa for the first time after acquiring foreign nationality are required to first renounce/surrender their Indian passports. IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR INDIAN PASSPORT HOLDERSThe Government of India has recently introduced centralized machine readable passport printing system for Indian passports. Following the introduction of this system, the Embassy of India in Slovakia is authorized to issue handwritten Indian passport booklets only in EMERGENCY cases. Under the new system, the data relating to passport applicants would be uplinked to the Centralised Indian Passports Printing System (CIPPS) wherein, it would be downloaded and processed for printing. After printing, the passport would be couriered by the CIPPS to the Embassy. The Embassy would, thereafter, handover the new passport to the applicant and cancel the previous passport. The time taken for issue of machine-readable Indian passports would be approximately one month. All Indian nationals in Slovakia applying for new passports are therefore advised to apply to the Embassy of India in Bratislava well in time before the expiry of their existing passport.
